art III — Perpetuum

The body is still. The mind is not.

Thoughts move constantly, crossing, overlapping, disappearing, and returning in an endless flow. Some bring joy, others bring doubt. Some inspire us to create, while others take us somewhere we never intended to go. But regardless of their nature, they keep moving.

Perpetuum explores the perpetual movement of the human mind: the invisible activity that continues even when everything around us comes to a standstill.

The figure represents the body at rest, while the layers of color across the face embody the continuous flow of ideas, memories, emotions, and possibilities. There is no clear beginning or end, no single thought that remains long enough to define the whole experience. Everything exists simultaneously, constantly shifting and transforming.

We often think of rest as the absence of movement. Yet we can lie completely still while imagining a thousand possible futures, replaying a conversation, remembering something beautiful, or creating something that doesn’t exist yet.

The mind does not distinguish between movement and stillness in the same way the body does. It continues to wander, explore, connect, and create.

Perhaps this is both its beauty and its burden: we can travel anywhere in our thoughts without ever leaving the same place.

Because even when the world stands still, the mind keeps moving.
