Part II — Dopamine
If Parasite represents what we carry inside, Dopamine explores the constant search for something that makes us feel better.
The figure is surrounded by colorful, looping lines—almost like thoughts, emotions, distractions, and stimuli constantly moving around us. The fragmented face suggests a sense of identity that can become difficult to recognize beneath everything competing for our attention.
We live in a world of constant stimulation: notifications, social media, achievements, entertainment, validation, and the pressure to always be doing more. We chase small moments of pleasure and distraction, sometimes without noticing that we are using them to avoid what we are actually feeling.
Yet the painting also suggests that we are not simply one emotion or one state of mind. We are made of many pieces, and some days those pieces feel more difficult to put together than others.
Together, Parasite and Dopamine are a reminder that mental health deserves the same attention as physical health. We don’t need to wait until we are falling apart to take care of ourselves.
